Our colt by Freud was born on April 15th, 2010. He stands 15.1 1/2 hands. He will be broke over the winter and will undergo preliminary training this spring.
Freud is New York state's perennial leading sire. He is the sire of grade one winning and 2011 Breeders' Cup Sprint hopeful, Giant Ryan. Freud consistently improves his mares by over 30%. He sires stakes winners at an impressive 8% clip, with 28 total stakes winners through out his career. Freud's full brother is the leading national sire, Giant's Causeway. Freud's offspring are sought after both at public auction and private sale due to his consistency of siring quality runners both in and out of New York.
Our Freud colt's dam is Oh Livie, whose sister, Moonlight Elegance, a grade three stakes placed winner, has produced stakes winner/grade three placed Moonlight Meeting. She is an earner of nearly $500,000 and set a new track record going a mile and one eighth in 1:47. Moonlight Elegance's sister produced grade two placed Chief Planner and the dam of grade three Canadian Derby winner Tommy Danzigger. Our Freud colt is Oh Livie's second foal.
Our Freud colt is a registered New York bred. The New York Racing Association recently announced that the total purses for the upcoming winter/spring meet at Aqueduct will increase $8.6 million or 36% over last year thanks to the opening of their casino. Every race category will see purse increases. For example, open allowance purses will increase to $69,000, New York bred allowance to $59,000, open maiden special weight to $65,000, New York bred maiden special weight to $55,000, and $10,000 claiming races to $31,000.
